Connecting a Fragmented Supply Chain
The U.S. supply chain involves countless stakeholders, but critical logistics data were scattered across private and public entities. This fragmentation made it difficult to see real-time conditions, anticipate bottlenecks, or optimize capacity. The Department of Transportation’s Freight Logistics Optimization Works (FLOW) program needed a secure, collaborative platform to aggregate and share actionable insights, enabling smarter, faster decisions for the nation’s freight movement.
Building a Unified Data Exchange
MacroSys partnered with USDOT and Bureau Transportation Statistics to design and implement the FLOW Data Portal, a secure, voluntary data exchange for logistics stakeholders. We developed robust ETL pipelines, a scalable data warehouse, and intuitive dashboards for real-time supply chain visibility. Our team also led the program's strategic communications, launching FLOW’s first website, digital channels, and outreach campaigns to drive engagement and expand participation.

Real-Time Insights and National Impact
Today, FLOW provides a secure, aggregated view of daily and future supply chain conditions at major U.S. ports and logistics nodes. MacroSys’s technical and communications leadership has transformed FLOW into a model for public–private collaboration, empowering private sector participants to optimize resources, anticipate demand, and mitigate congestion—strengthening the efficiency and resilience of the U.S. supply chain.
