Bringing Highly Automated Systems into Focus
The Highly Automated Systems Safety Center of Excellence (HASS COE) advances the industry’s understanding, assessment, and validation of highly automated systems, ensuring safety while addressing emerging technologies and societal priorities, such as climate and equity. To amplify its initiatives, HASS COE engaged MacroSys to provide communications, outreach, and graphic design support, delivering high-quality, accessible, and visually compelling materials that elevated the center’s visibility and impact.
Transforming Complex Ideas into Accessible Deliverables
One of HASS COE’s most high-profile initiatives is the Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) National Strategy, a collaborative effort engaging more than 25 federal agencies and over 100 subject-matter experts to establish the first-ever coordinated approach to AAM. MacroSys worked closely with HASS COE to shepherd this complex interagency effort from conceptualization through delivery, translating technical content into cohesive, visually compelling, and fully accessible materials. The initiative included four major products for public release: the National Strategy, the Comprehensive Plan, a graphics-intensive Digital Summary, and a fully realized website. We created templates, designed custom graphics, refined layouts, and ensured all materials met accessibility and quality standards.
The result? Engaging and visually dynamic deliverables that made complex technical information—like a future with unmanned aircraft systems—easier to understand.

Driving Impact and Engagement
The AAM initiative reached a major milestone with a nationwide launch led by the Department of Transportation, amplifying HASS COE’s work to a national audience. As the first-ever national framework for AAM, the strategy set the stage for safer, more efficient, and equitable deployment of automated systems. MacroSys’s support helped ensure this interagency effort reached the public effectively, advancing safer skies, smarter mobility, and a stronger transportation future for communities across the nation.
