Established to supply objective, accurate, and timely transportation statistics to decision-makers and the public, BTS releases data that have the power to transform our transportation system. They compile, analyze, and publish critical information across all modes, including freight, aviation, and port-to-port travel. Without BTS, policymakers, researchers, and business leaders would lack the information they need to make decisions about infrastructure. Data, however, need context to show their significance. To help both technical and lay audiences connect with BTS’s data, storytelling is a valuable tool. Sharing BTS’s achievements and challenges in an impactful and memorable way requires talented writers and seasoned communicators.
Elevating BTS's Voice With Professional Writing
Every week, BTS releases highly technical information in statistical releases and internal memos. And on any given day, they provide the information that department leaders need at interagency meetings and technical forums. These activities span complex technical, scientific, and transportation issues. MacroSys stepped in to provide critical professional writing, research, and outreach support. Our skilled communicators translated these issues into clear and compelling messages for the agency and the greater public.
MacroSys provided writing and outreach support to leaders in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Research and Technology and the Office of Technology Policy and Outreach. Our communications team delivered dozens of speeches and presentations with high customer satisfaction. We also supported the creation of several high-profile websites, including the Transformation page, which we designed to promote and provide resources for one of six high-priority areas outlined in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Our seasoned experts went behind the scenes and read between the statistical lines to support a gamut of BTS initiatives and projects, from external press events and congressional inquiries to internal BTS conferences and town halls.
Across changing administrations, MacroSys delivered essential support by ensuring accuracy, clarity, and compliance across all BTS communications. We updated website content to align with new executive orders and crafted speeches, articles, and other products to effectively tell BTS’s story. Our team coordinated with the Contacting Officer’s Representative (COR) to expand content management system (CMS) access, enabling faster turnaround on urgent content requests and strengthening responsiveness across the agency. We also provided timely, high-quality information to leadership within the Office of the Secretary of Transportation and key stakeholders, helping advance the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (USDOT’s) priorities through clear and consistent messaging. Through compelling narratives and digital content, MacroSys highlighted USDOT’s achievements and elevated BTS’s voice.
